Secure Your Account Under 2 Minutes

GCash, the leading mobile wallet in the Philippines is the first-ever financial institution to initiate the Customer Protect Program. This new program keeps your hard-earned money safe and secure from fraudulent transactions!

As a customer, you are also responsible for the safety of your account and money. Here are some tips to make sure that your account information doesn’t fall on the wrong hands:

  • Keep it to yourself!

Never share your MPIN and OTP (One-Time-Password) to anyone! Do not trust anyone who asks for your login information such as MPINs and authentication codes. Legitimate financial institutions or representatives will never ask for these details.

  • Two is better than one!

Your account is protected by Two-Factor Authentication which serves as an added security layer to access your account. It is there to make sure that you’re the only person who can access your account. It works by sending a unique code to your GCash-registered mobile number.

  • Think before you click!

Be careful when clicking a link that prompts you to enter your login details, especially if the website looks sketchy. Fraudsters use a common method called Phishing — this is where they use a fake website in order to get user’s account information to create fraudulent transactions.

Wait, there’s more! We also get questions like “How do I secure my GCash card?”, “Is there a way to keep my card safe?”, and many more. Find out how below!

  • Be clingy!

Always glue yourself to your debit card! Whether you are swiping it in a restaurant, paying for gas at the local station or anything that requires it to be away from you. One of the best conveniences of having a debit card is being able to pay using your card instead of cash. Being present when swiping your card prevents fraudsters from taking note of your card information.

  • Online shopping? No worries!

Online shopping is fun, most especially when it’s sale! To avoid your card information from being compromised, make sure that the online shop that you are buying from is legitimate by conducting a few searches and checking for reviews before buying from the store.

  • Memorizing a 3-digit code? Easy as pie!

Memorize your CVV code, which is the 3-digit number at the back of your card. Your CVV (Card Verification Value) is a very important part of your card information. A good way to protect this from wandering eyes is to memorize and cover it with a “void sticker” to prevent others from having a full peep at your card information whenever you use your card!
